About VAF

A local foundation, built by people who know these hills.

Valley Adventure Foundation is a California nonprofit corporation formed in 2026 to bring free, guided outdoor experiences to Central Valley families.

Our Mission

To reconnect Central Valley families to the outdoors — the way it was meant to be experienced — through free, guided experiences that teach outdoor skills, provide access to nature, and build a culture of stewardship for the land around us.

Growing Through Adventure.

Why the Central Valley

Fresno, Visalia, Madera, Tulare — the towns we call home sit at the doorstep of the Sierra Nevada, the Kings, the Kaweah, and thousands of acres of oak woodland and grassland. Yet for many families here, a night in a tent or a walk on a real trail is something that happens to other people, somewhere else.

We started Valley Adventure Foundation because that gap is fixable. It doesn't take money to belong outdoors — it takes someone to show you the way.

What Makes Us Different

  • Free at the point of participation. Every program is offered at no cost to participating families. Donors and grants cover the gear, the guides, and the transportation.
  • Skills, not just outings. We pair every adventure with something you can take home — how to plant a seedling, how to read a trail map, how to cook over a fire, how to spot a native plant.
  • Local board, local roots. Every officer and director lives in the Central Valley. Programs are designed for the terrain, communities, and climate we know.
  • Steward-first. Every season includes service days on public land. If we play here, we take care of it.
